Halter Fitting

Cheek Pieces: Long enough to allow the Throat Pieces to fall just behind the jawbone, yet short enough to place the Noseband Knots just below the bony knobs of the lower end of the facial crest.

Crown Pieces: Long enough to allow the halter to be easily tied, with 6 to 8 inches (15 to 20 cm) of excess "tail" left over.

Noseband Pieces: Long enough to allow the Noseband Knots to fit on either side of the face, just below the bony knobs of the lower end of the facial crest.

Throat Pieces: Must be long enough to allow the Crown Knots to fit well up behind the jawbone (and just behind and below the ear).

Chin Pieces: Long enough to allow the halter to fit comfortably around the nose, with about 1-2 inches (2.5-5 cm) of extra room.

Gullet Pieces: Long enough to allow the Throat Pieces to fit up behind the jawbone, yet not so long as to cause the Fiador Knot to sag near the horse's chin.
